When we arrived in Madrid, it was maybe 23 degrees C. Partly cloudy. We met our guide, Jorge, and boarded a bus to Cordoba. After just a few minutes, we stopped for our first important cultural experience... at a McDonald's. The students needed something familiar to start with!
Wild flowers grew everywhere along the highway, and green fields stretched to the horizon. Our guide says this has been the rainiest season in 66 years, so all this green we see is usually still brown at this time of year.
We drove through La Mancha (of Don Quixote fame) for a few hours, and it was nothing but vineyards and olive orchards for hundreds of miles! Very beautiful. Mr. Stay and Mr. Ali sang songs at the students' request, until the guide found some music to play on the radio.
We made a brief stop for rest after 3 hours of driving, then went on our way to Cordoba.
The country just kept getting more beautiful!
We arrived around 9:00 PM and walked the last 100m or so to our beautiful old hotel.
After a delicious dinner...
...we all went out to walk around the old part of Cordoba and get a preview of tomorrow's activities. All are very tired, but we are well. We will sleep a little late tomorrow morning!
